June 12th, 2015 | Summertime Stains

beach

Hello everyone, summer is in full swing and we hope everyone is enjoying this time of the year when warm weather reigns, the sun shines longer, and we can all spend more time outdoors doing the things we love. Summer seams to come with its own set of fun activities like hiking, eating ice cream, having picnics and barbecues, and going swimming. These things all can cause their own unique stains to clothes, but that’s no reason to not enjoy this wonderful time of year. Go ahead and enjoy your summer and we’ll help you take care of any summertime stains you might encounter!

Grass Stains: grass stains are very common during the summer months and come in many varieties. Luckily, they are fairly simple to remove. For really tough grass stains we recommend soaking the garment in a bowl of warm water with a small amount of laundry detergent for about 30 minutes and then simply follow the normal launder instructions.

Mud Stains: little ones are bound to get muddy during their summer adventures. The best way to treat these stains is to let the mud dry and then remove as much of the mud as possible with a utensil. Once that is complete, wet the affected area, apply a small amount of detergent and rub the stain out. Once you’ve treated the stain launder normally.

Ice Cream Stains: ice cream is both delicious and dangerous, so be careful when you’re enjoying this summer treat. If you get an ice cream stain we recommend soaking the garment in cool water for 10 minutes. After that rub some detergent into the stain followed by 30 more minutes of soaking in room temperature water. Finally, apply some sort of spot remover for 7-10 minutes before laundering normally.

Ketchup/Mustard Stains: It’s difficult to have a proper barbecue without ketchup and mustard present, and stains are bound to happen here. First of all, scrape away the excess condiment, and then run the affected area under cool water. Next, rub the stain out with detergent, working your way from the outside of the stain inward. For white garments you may try applying some lemon juice or white vinegar as a bleaching element. Of course, launder as normal once the stain is removed.

Sunscreen Stains: These stains may happen during your day at the beach or pool, and fortunately it doesn’t take much to conquer them. We recommend applying a spot remover to the stain, and then pretreating by rubbing it with warm water and detergent before washing it normally.

Happy summer to everyone, and now that you know how to handle the stains, have fun out there without worrying!

May 18th, 2015 | Allergy Awareness Month

Pollen

May is Allergy Awareness Month, just in time for the usual slew of allergens to return in the spring time.. With 1 in 5 Americans suffering from either allergy or asthma symptoms, we need to do all we can to ensure we have clean homes to reduce the effects of these illnesses. Chem-Dry specializes in exactly that. We fight allergens and make your home cleaner and healthier to make the transition into spring easier on you and your family. Aside from having your home cleaned by us there are additional steps you can take to reduce the effects of the season:

Spring Cleaning: By keeping your home clean and tidy you can help reduce the amount of allergens and dust mites that exist in your home. Do simple things like emptying the trash daily, washing your bedding often, changing the filter in your furnace and air conditioner, and getting rid of any mildew. You’ll be surprised how such simple changes can make a big difference.

Keep Allergens at Bay: Part of the problem is that allergens cling to us and follow us into our homes. One way to keep them at bay is to remove your shoes, jacket, and hat when you enter the home. This way you leave them at the door instead of allowing them to tag along through the rest of the house. Another smart tip is to bathe at night, or even simply wash your hair before bed. This keeps your sleeping area clean and allergen free, which will allow you to get great sleep and wake up refreshed each day!

Pet Control: We all love our pets, but they are a common cause of allergies. There are some simple things you can do to reduce the allergy effects of having a pet while still being able to have them as part of your family. You’ll want to keep your pets off of couches, beds, and other living areas and ensure you clean up after them regularly. This includes bathing them on a regular basis. Your pets are lucky to have you, and following these simple tips can allow you to enjoy them without suffering from allergies.

The Chem-Dry method provides the most powerful carpet cleaning solution available on the market today. We use a unique technique we've developed here by making use of thousands of carbonation bubbles to clean your floors.

Carbonation has natural "lifting" properties which bring the bubbles right to the top. I'm sure you've witnessed this when you've poured a carbonated drink into a glass. Going along with that, Chem-Dry of Omaha's carbonated solution penetrates deep into carpets, obliterating stains at the source with millions of tiny bubbles. We have done extensive research on this in-depth reaction to blast all dirt and particles and lift them to the top of the carpet, where they are swept away with ease by our hot water extraction technique. This solution allows us to remove all grime from your carpets completely, giving your home the most satisfying and thorough treatment possible.

As opposed to carbonated cleaning, steam cleaning uses high pressure and gallons of water on your carpets. This method drives dirt and moisture down into your carpet, hiding the mess rather than cleaning it, and creates a breeding ground for mold and other bacteria. With all that extra water they dumped most carpets won't be dry for days. On the other hand, because of the minimal amount of water required for the Chem-Dry of Omaha  method, your carpets will dry within just 1-2 hours! That is 24 times quicker than the competition, letting you get back to life quicker. That’s the Chem-Dry difference.

The last and best benefit of our services is the prices that will fit any budget! For a deep clean you can trust, call us today to schedule!

Getting your carpets professionally cleaned is definitely helpful, but not always necessary. Actually, most stains and spots would come out quickly and easily with a few tips, which most carpet cleaners won't tell you. The experts want you to call them for all stains and spots. Helping you is our M.O. we want to help you with a few secrets from the real carpet cleaning professionals.

Warm water and a white cloth are all you need for the first remedy. To apply, dampen the stain on your carpet, then gently blot it with the cloth. While doing this, make sure you don't aggressively wipe or scrub the stain (as this will only make the spot worse). Attentively blotting the stain is the best way to transfer the stain to your cloth from the carpet. As you are blotting the stain, check the towel to see if the towel is darkening. The darkening will indicate that the stain is transferring. Stop the process if you can't see any darkening.

If there's no transfer to your towel, club soda is the next thing to try. This strategy uses the same principles behind Chem-Dry's world renowned cleaning solutions.  Just as you did with warm water, simply blot the stain with a towel, checking periodically for transfer. If this proves unsuccessful, then it's time to call the experts. The groundbreaking techniques used by Chem-Dry remove particles from individual fibers and then lift them out of your carpet, making us the best choice for all stain removal. Give us a call to put our stain removal to the test!
